
Highly energy efficient, the building will require approximately 30% less in energy costs than the existing costs in city office buildings, figured on a square foot basis. The One Tech Center eliminates the environmental air quality concerns of the existing office buildings. It also has a state of the art mechanical system which reduces energy demands at peak consumption hours. Overall, the building offers long-term savings for the taxpayers.
One CNG Refuse Collection Truck has been purchased. The vehicle cost was supplemented by grant monies from ODOT.
Grant monies have been received to facilitate the purchase of two (2) Honda CNG fuel vehicles.
The repair and recertification of the Compressed Natural Gas FastFill Fuel Station and the Dispensing Unit was funded by grants the City accepted. The station became operational in December 2007.
The purchase of hybrid vehicles is occuring as aging fleet vehicles are replaced.
A portal is under construction that will allow COT employees direct access to the Green Traveler carpool matching program through the city’s intranet site. This portal will allow the city to track the number of employees participating and calculate the pounds of emissions that have been saved.
This plan, provided to the City Council in May 2007, included research on cost savings possible by introducing energy conservation measures within the city. Many of the suggestions made in the plan appear in the previous section. “green initiatives.”
