Greetings!
It’s been 30 years since the City of Tulsa developed a master plan for Tulsa Parks. That will change this week, as park planners from GreenPlay LLC, of Broomfield, CO., conducts focus groups March 3 through March 5 to receive input about Tulsa’s park and recreation opportunities. You can find out more about how you can participate in the focus groups by reading the article in this week’s E-news.
While the focus groups are smaller sessions, all of the public is invited to attend a forum fon Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. at Central Center at Centennial Park, 1028 E. 6th St. Tulsa. The results of the six focus groups will be presented at that event, as GreenPlay representatives will talk about the next steps in the study.
Tulsa parks programs, services and facilities are vital to the development of our youth, and the quality of life for our adults and seniors. Parks are an integral part of the neighborhood and we should all work together to create a vision and a plan for the future of important park and recreation assets and resources.
This week is a great opportunity for you to get involved in helping us plan the future of Tulsa Parks.
Sincerely,
Kathy Taylor

Tulsa Parks to
Develop
Master Plan

The results of the six focus groups will be presented in a Public Forum, to be held Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. at Central Center at Centennial Park, 1028 E. 6th St. Tulsa. The public is invited to attend.
What's With the Lights?
Many people ask why all the lights are on at night at City Hall at One Technology Center (OTC). OTC has been equipped with state-of-the-art lighting systems for efficient energy use. Although OTC appears to be completely lit at night, only limited lighting is used for security and maintenance needs. The glass façade allows the building to appear transparent and features perimeter/security up-lighting that reflects off of the white tile ceilings on each floor, giving the illusion from the outside of being very bright. This unique lighting system enhances the beauty of the downtown skyline, while creating safer and sustainable surroundings.

Karan Casey Band Visits PAC
One of the most influential – and most imitated – voices in folk music, Karan Casey is a natural innovator. More than a decade ago American audiences were introduced to Casey fronting the Irish “supergroup” Solas. Following their groundbreaking early releases, Casey struck out on her own. That decision was based on an independent spirit determined to control her touring schedule and committed to maintaining a family life.
While touring constantly throughout North America and Europe with her own band, Karan has been involved in many other varied projects and collaborations. She began 2008 with critically acclaimed appearances at the renowned Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow and will be touring the U.S. throughout February and March.
Ticket information for the March 13 Karan Casey Band performance is available online.
PLANiTULSA Workshops Completed
Nearly 1,400 Tulsans have attended PLANiTULSA workshops since the new Comprehensive Plan planning process began last September. A thousand citizens attended citywide workshops held in fall 2008 and nearly 400 people attended the small area workshops held from December through February.
Fregonese & Associates, lead consultants for PLANiTULSA, will now compile ideas and concepts developed by workshop attendees.
Printer Defaults Changed to Save Money
Two new policies, effective March 2, are expected to save an estimated $51,240 per year in printing costs for city staff working out of City Hall at One Technology Center.
In the first policy change, default settings on all multi-functional printing devices (color and black and white) will be changed to duplex printing (double-sided). This setting change will reduce the City’s paper costs by an estimated $41,400 per year, by utilizing both sides of printing paper. It is still possible for the end user to select the single-sided printing option if it is required for their project.
