City of Tulsa
PLANiTULSA Workshops Completed

Nearly 1,400 Tulsans have attended PLANiTULSA workshops since the new Comprehensive Plan planning process began last September. A thousand citizens attended citywide workshops held in fall 2008 and nearly 400 people attended the small area workshops held from December through February.

Fregonese & Associates, lead consultants for PLANiTULSA, will now compile ideas and concepts developed by workshop attendees. More than 200 workshop maps will be digitized and analyzed to create planning scenarios, possibly including the following:

  • Trend – covering current and recent trends, in which Tulsa will grow more slowly than suburbs in the regions;
  • Workshop average – based directly on workshop map inputs, with emphasis on neighborhood revitalization, and more transit options;
  • New City Centers – more aggressive economic development of secondary centers in vacant areas with existing infrastructure and less emphasis on downtown development; and,
  • Very Green – goal-driven scenario with more aggressive infill development and transit options, and a focus on sustainability issues.

Throughout the month of May, Tulsans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite scenario concept for future Tulsa Development through widely available surveys. Following the return of the surveys, the Fregonese team will finalize the Plan and admit it for final community review.

PLANiTULSA team members hope that more than 13,500 surveys will be returned, setting a new record for citizen response from Fregonese planning efforts nationwide.
