Tulsa Million Miles Is Racking Up the Mileage!

Tulsans are nearly a quarter of the way of completing one million miles together as a community! As the blustery winter days give way to breezy spring weather, Tulsans are hitting the trails and getting more active.

In the meantime, grab your family and head out to these fun-filled events in April:

Racing on the River – Saturday, April 4, Riverside Drive Between 31st St. & 61st St. The 10K Time Trial begins at 8 a.m. and the start/finish line will be on Riverside Drive at the parking lot on the north side of E. 31st St. Presented by Homelife Association and the Tulsa Wheelmen Bicycle Club.

Walk MS – Saturday, April 4, 2004 E. 22nd Pl.  This three-mile walk, beginning at 7:30 a.m., winds through historic Tulsa neighborhoods. Registration is free. Dogs on leashes and children in strollers are permitted. Refreshments will be provided along with activities for the entire family. More details are available online.

Osteopathic Scrub Run – Saturday, April 4, OSU-CHS Campus. Choose from a 10k, 5k, or one-mile fun run. This great course starts at the OSU Center for Health Service campus in West Tulsa and runs across the river into downtown Tulsa.

Get Fit Tulsa – Saturday, April 11 at TU, 11th and Harvard. The fun run begins at 8:10 a.m. and the 5-k is at 8:30 a.m. The Tulsa Junior League will feature "Kids in the Kitchen" with students from the Junior Iron Chefs. Coca Cola is providing a Nascar simulator and a fit-fest obstacle course. Special thanks to Wal-mart for being the presenting sponsor at this family friendly event. Register at Runners World, 46th & Peoria, April 6 through April 10 or on race day at TU. All students under 14 can run for free and will receive a free T-shirt! More details are available online.

The 25th Anniversary Tulsa Heart Walk – Saturday, April 18 at Veterans Park. The day of the Walk, participants will join employees, friends and family to celebrate their fundraising and lifestyle change efforts and to honor all survivors of heart disease and stroke. Steve Dobbs, CEO of Hillcrest Medical Center is chairman of the 2009 Heart Walk. The Tulsa Heart Walk anticipates 4,000 walkers and an educational experience for all ages. The day’s event will kick off with a scenic walk along River Parks and a celebration afterwards. Join us in fighting the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of Americans, heart disease and stroke.
