Although there are no confirmed cases of swine flu in Oklahoma, the Tulsa Health Department has heightened their medical surveillance activities and is encouraging residents to take precautions. The Tulsa Health Department, the City of Tulsa and EMSA are all working together and coordinating efforts to aggressively monitor this public health situation and are keeping in close contact with state and federal authorities and the CDC.
“Our first responders are highly educated and knowledgeable about this health concern,” said Mayor Kathy Taylor. “The Medical Emergency Response Center (MERC) is “on call” and is monitoring the situation. They are in constant contact with hospitals to evaluate capabilities of our healthcare system and facilitate communications between organizations. At this time there is adequate capacity at our hospitals with no impact on the healthcare system."
