Representatives from the Tulsa County Bar Association, Tulsa Metro Chamber and the City of Tulsa introduced Tulsa Lawyer for the Arts, a new organization serviced by area attorneys and developed by Chad Burris of Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson to provide legal assistance and educational programming to artists and arts organizations in Oklahoma, at little or no cost.
Through the program, artists are paired with participating attorneys to discuss legal issues and to resolve arts-related disputes outside traditional legal framework. Areas of representation include contracts; copyright and trademark issues; wills, trusts and estates; First Amendment issues; mediation; and landlord-tenant issues. Those who qualify for the discounted services include individuals or organizations involved in music, film, performing arts, and visual art or design.
The concept for Tulsa Lawyers for the Arts was inspired by similar programs in other cities, and will provide legal aid to individuals who could not otherwise afford assistance.
