US-75 Improvements Are Underway
Motorists need to be aware of improvements now underway at the US-75 / 71st Street interchange in south Tulsa. The Department of Transportation is urging motorists to be cautious while driving in the area as there have been significant changes to existing traffic patterns.

The northbound US-75 off ramp and the southbound US-75 on ramp at 71st Street are now closed. Additionally, east and westbound 71st Street is closed between US-75 and Union Avenue. These closures represent the first phase of an extensive interchange project.

During this first phase, southbound US-75 motorists exiting 71st Street can only travel east. Westbound 71st Street motorists can only access northbound US-75. ODOT recommends motorists use 81st Street as an alternate route. In preparation for increased traffic volume caused by this detour, ODOT installed traffic signals at 81st Street.

As the project progresses, motorists can expect further access restrictions. In May, there will be no access to US-75 at 71st Street.

The entire construction project is expected to be complete Spring 2006. Throughout the project, motorists are urged to heed the message boards and use 81st Street as a detour.

The interchange and roadway project was awarded to Sherwood Construction in Catoosa for approximately $16 million.
