H&R Block To Provide Free Tax Service To City Employees on Military Duty

Mayor Kathy Taylor joined with H&R Block Regional Manager Susan Devore today in announcing free tax preparation assistance for City employees serving on active military duty.

The City of Tulsa has employees in several departments who also serve in the active reserves or National. Employees from Public Works, Tulsa Police Department and elsewhere have previously served in Iraq and others are being deployed currently. Employees, their spouses and dependents are eligible for the assistance.

“I am extremely proud of our Tulsa City employees who are also serving their country in combat arenas around the world,” said Mayor Taylor. “I appreciate H&R Block stepping up to provide this service to our employees and their families. Programs like this help send a message to our troops that we support them and appreciate the sacrifices they make.”

City employees who are deployed and are on active duty status for more than 180 days are eligible. The program was coordinated through the Mayor’s liaison for veteran’s affairs, Matt Stiner, a former Marine and veteran of the Iraq War.

H&R Block, a Kansas City-based financial service company with local offices in Tulsa and surrounding communities, will provide both state and federal tax return preparation for the eligible employees who apply.

Mayor Taylor issued a proclamation today thanking H&R Block for providing the service and recognized Devore for her efforts in providing the service.
