The Tulsa Neighborhood Fund Task Force has selected 47 projects to receive funding under Phase III of the Vision 2025 program. Mayor Kathy Taylor has approved all selections. “Healthy, attractive neighborhoods provide a positive impact on public safety, education and economic vitality for our city,” she said.
Citizen volunteers from each of the nine City Council districts comprise the Task Force. Members include Shirley LeRoy, District 1; Kaye Price, District 2; Karen O’Brien, District 3; Julie Hall, District 4; Joe Scott, District 5; Carole Warren, District 6; Gary Kruse, District 7; Michael Peyton, District 8; and Reuben Davis, District 9.
Neighborhoods began the application process for Phase III in May 2006, by submitting concept-screening forms to describe projects up to $25,000 each. Neighborhoods whose concepts were approved submitted more detailed applications in August 2006.
In October 2006, the Neighborhood Fund Task Force evaluated 63 applications with requests totaling $1,127,819. The Task Force recommended 47 projects to receive funding totaling nearly $800,000.
Approved projects include physical improvements to the neighborhood or assessments, evaluations, plans or designs that will serve as guides for neighborhood enhancement. Phase III project costs ranged from $660 to $25,000.
For Phase III, the Task Force gave preference to groups that did not receive funding in Phases I or II. Nine projects were funded in the Phase I pilot, in which requests ranged from $1,100 to $25,000 and totaled $141,628. During Phase II, 54 projects received a total of $1,019,124 in amounts ranging from $700 to $25,000.
