Mayor Bill LaFortune announced today the City of Tulsa’s newly designed Web site is active and sporting a brand new look. The new home page, at www.cityoftulsa.org , has an updated layout and design. From visually stunning graphics to a rearrangement of important news that affects Tulsa citizens, the City’s revamped Web site is geared toward making it easier for everyone to access information.
“The City’s Web site has been active since 1999, and this is the third redesign,” said Kim MacLeod, communications director for Mayor Bill LaFortune. “We are pleased to unveil a brand new look featuring city services on the home page, as well as professional photography that we will continue to build on to improve the image of the City. For Internet users, our Web site is Tulsa’s front door. With the work going on in Tulsa to move this city forward, it was time to make a change to build a friendlier, more attractive site that can improve and grow with Tulsa. ”
Braincrumbs of Tulsa was selected to design the Web site and the conversion of information from the former site to the new was performed by two City employees: Brian Bales of Telecommunications and Kim Meloy of Public Works Community Affairs & Planning.
“The remarkable efforts of our City of Tulsa employees helped us succeed in making our Web site more user friendly for Internet users in our community and across the nation, “ said Darren Fritz, supervisor of the web services group.
MacLeod said the major difference on the City of Tulsa’s homepage is that the press releases are no longer posted on the front page. The home page highlights information on featured City services, news and programs, with easy links to departments, services and activities.
The City’s press releases are still easy to find under the “Quick links” section on the homepage where they are accessible by simply selecting the “Press Room”. MacLeod said it is still easy to report problems, such as potholes and neighborhood nuisances, by going to the Report a Problem page found under Quick links.”
The City’s newly revitalized Web site also is in compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and now makes it possible for people with disabilities to have access to city news.
Other ‘Quick links’ to important topics include: Office of the Mayor, City Council, City Auditor, Agencies & Authorities, Vision 2025, and a main menu that includes many of our most visited pages: Jobs, Traffic Accidents, Meeting Agendas and Doing Business With the City.
Individuals with Internet access can log on to www.cityoftulsa.org for the most up-to-date city news.
