City of Tulsa Weekly Street Construction Update

Editor’s note: New or corrected information on each item is printed in boldface type.

Street improvement projects that affect traffic on major Tulsa streets include:

Open: South Delaware Avenue at East 103rd Street

Open: Fifth Street, from Main STreet to Boston Avenue

OPen: East SEcond Street and South Owasso Avenue

Open: West First Street and South Guthrie Avenue

East 41st Street and South Yale Avenue intersection: Traffic is limited to one lane in each direction with no left turns for 45 days during paving of the intersection and waterline work. This project also includes improvements to 41st Street between Yale and Hudson avenues. Completion is scheduled for October 2006. (Horizon Construction Co.)

East 41st STreet and South Peoria Avenue: Intermittent closures of the curb lanes will occur for one more week for improvements to this intersection. This is related to the following item:

South Peoria Avenue, East 34th STreet to East 36th STreet: Traffic is narrowed to one northbound lane and one southbound lane. East 35th Place is closed just west of Peoria Avenue. This is part of an intersection improvement project on South Peoria Avenue between East 33rd Street and East 36th Street, and the project also includes East 41st Street. Completion is scheduled for late October. (Keystone Services)

South Boston AvEnue, East Third Street to East 10th Street: Intermittent lane closures will occur during this project that includes street improvements, sidewalk enhancement and conversion to two-way traffic. Completion of the project is scheduled for August 2007. (Horizon Construction Co.)

East 21st Street bridge over Mingo Creek: Traffic is limited to one eastbound lane and one westbound lane during bridge repairs until late September. (PbX Corporation)

South 129th East AVenue, East 41st Street to East 48th Street: A detour lane is open for traffic. Construction is under way for widening this road to five lanes. Completion of the project is scheduled for January 2007. (Becco Contractors Inc.)

South Yale Avenue and Interstate 44: The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is rebuilding this interchange. Lane closures will occur when necessary. Completion of the project is scheduled for March 2007. (Becco Contractors)

East 91st Street and South Yale Avenue: Construction is under way to widen this intersection and also Yale Avenue between 91st Street and the Creek Turnpike. “No left turn” signs are in place until completion of the project, scheduled for November 2006. (Sherwood Construction Co.)

1100 N. Quebec Ave.: A timber bridge crossing Coal Creek in the Westrope Acres II subdivision is closed to traffic. Repair of the bridge will begin Aug. 7, 2006, and completion is estimated for November 2006.

North Elgin Avenue, between John Hope Franklin Blvd. (Haskell Street) and I-244: The street is closed to through traffic until December 2007 during construction of a new building at OSU Tulsa. Traffic is detoured onto North Greenwood Avenue.
