Weekly Street Project Update - July 27, 2007

Street improvement projects that affect traffic on major Tulsa streets include:

New: Monday, July 30, through Wednesday, August 1 – East 101st Street, South Memorial Drive to South Yale Avenue: Tulsa County will resurface this road with asphalt, and traffic will be limited to one-way westbound from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Access to 101st Street from intersecting streets either will be limited or not permitted during construction. Message boards are posted to notify motorists about this work.

New: West Fourth Street, Boulder Avenue to Main Street: Traffic is limited to one eastbound lane for one week, and motorists on Boulder Avenue cannot turn right onto Fourth Street. Workers are installing a storm sewer manhole as part of the Centennial Walk project. (Magnum Construction Co.)

West Third Street, Denver Avenue to Cheyenne Avenue: The north curb lane is closed. This also is part of the Centennial Walk sidewalk enhancements and storm drainage improvements. Completion of the project is scheduled for January 2008.

New: East Sixth Street between Boston Avenue and Main Street is closed through Sunday, July 29, for storm sewer work. (Horizon Construction Co.)

South Boston Avenue, Third Street to Seventh Street: Traffic is limited to two northbound lanes. Also, the south curb lane on Third Street at Boston Avenue is closed. Four-way stop signs are in place at the intersections of Fourth Street, Fifth Street, Sixth Street and Seventh Street with Boston Avenue. This is part of street improvements, sidewalk enhancements and conversion to two-way traffic on South Boston Avenue between Third and 10th streets. Completion of the project is scheduled for fall 2007. (Horizon Construction Co.)

South Delaware Avenue at East 111th Street: The road is closed for 85 days during replacement of the bridge over Vensel Creek. (Becco Contractors Inc.)

South 161st East Avenue, one-quarter mile north of East 11th Street: The road is closed for three weeks during street reconstruction. This is part of a street rehabilitation and waterline replacement project for 161st East Avenue between Admiral Place and 11th Street South. (Becco Contractors Inc.)

East 41st STreet, South 145th East AVenue to South 177th East AVenue: Traffic will be limited to one-way westbound through September during street rehabilitation. (APAC-Oklahoma Inc.)

South Peoria Avenue, East 11th Street to EAst 15th Street: The southbound curb lane is closed for three weeks during construction of the Midland Valley Trail. (Keystone Services)

South Delaware Avenue, East Fourth Street to East 10th Street: Traffic is limited to one-way southbound during this street improvement project on Delaware Avenue between 11th Street and Interstate 244. Completion is scheduled for August. (Horizon Construction Co.)

East 81st Street and South Delaware Avenue: The widening of the 81st Street and Delaware Avenue intersection continues, and Delaware Avenue is closed between East 81st Place and East 83rd Street. Project completion is scheduled for August 2. (Becco Contractors Inc.)

36th Street North, Cincinnati Avenue to Tulsa/Osage county line: Construction is under way for widening this road to five lanes. Completion of the project is scheduled for September. (Horizon Construction Co.)

East 31st Street, South Garnett Road to South 129th East Avenue: Construction is under way for widening this road to five lanes. Completion of the project is scheduled for late September. (Horizon Construction Co.)

East 21st Street South, 145th East Avenue to 129th East Avenue: Traffic is limited to one eastbound lane and one westbound lane during this street maintenance project, which is scheduled for completion in October. (Becco Contractors Inc.)

East 81st Street and South Mingo Road: Left-turns are not allowed at the intersection. This intersection-widening project is scheduled for completion in October. (Becco Contractors Inc.)

North Elgin Avenue, between John Hope Franklin Blvd. And I-244: The street is closed to through traffic until December during construction of a new building at OSU Tulsa. Traffic is detoured onto North Greenwood Avenue.
