Tulsa Parks’ Youth Sports League to Fight Fat

In a continuous effort to get Tulsa kids physically fit, Tulsa Parks has again dedicated their Fall Youth Sports League with a “Fight the Fat” theme. Along with the Mayor’s Fitness Challenge program, the Youth Sports League is an ideal ‘fat-fighting’ program that gets youth away from the computer or off the couch and shape up.

The Mayors’ Fitness Challenge was designed for just such a program promoting health and fitness throughout the Tulsa area. The program partners with several private and governmental agencies to coordinate and promote health-related programs.

“Our Fall Youth Sports League has been a great success for many years,” declares Sue Price, Youth Sports Coordinator for Tulsa Parks. “Boys and girls can sign up for Flag Football, Soccer or Volleyball. They’ll get in great some great exercise and have fun at the same time!”

Flag Football and Soccer are designed for grades kindergarten through fifth, while Volleyball is for fourth- and fifth-graders. The three leagues include an eight-game season running throughout October and November. Each entrant will play equally in every game, and receive a game t-shirt and a participation trophy. All leagues are co-ed with an entry fee of $45.
