Greetings,
At the City of Tulsa, we want to provide information in an open, transparent forum using the website as well as other vehicles. We presented the proposed budget for the City of Tulsa last week to the City Council in a public meeting, and on TGOV, and we have posted the information online for Tulsans to view. I believe it is vitally important for citizens to be engaged in their local government, and becoming familiar with how the city is financed is part of that process.
City Offers Ticket,
Warrant Amnesty
On the first day of the City of Tulsa’s warrant amnesty program, 76 outstanding tickets and warrants totaling $10,032 were paid back to the City of Tulsa.
The program began last Friday and allows anyone with unpaid traffic tickets or misdemeanor warrants in City of Tulsa Municipal Courts to save money and avoid paying late fees and additional court costs by paying their fines or appearing before a judge. The program began Friday, May 1 and continues through May 22.
Teach for America
Comes to Tulsa
Teach For America will select 50 corps members from a national applicant pool of more than 35,000 to come to Tulsa for the 2009 – 2010 school year and will expand to 150 corps members within the next three years. Tulsa is the only city in Oklahoma to be chosen for Teach For America. Other cities included in Teach For America are: New York City, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Kansas City, and Dallas, to name a few.
PLANiTULSA Ballot
Kickoff is May 12
All Tulsans are invited to kickoff the balloting portion of the PLANiTULSA planning process on May 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Cain’s Ballroom. The event will feature music and light refreshments, along with PLANiTULSA information.
Looking for Citizens to Serve
The City of Tulsa has openings on several authorities, boards and commissions that are waiting for citizens to volunteer their services to the community. Mayor Kathy Taylor and the City Council rely on these volunteer citizen groups for thoughtful advice to create policies and develop programs.
Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply to serve on these boards. Applicants for all Mayor-appointed positions must be Tulsa residents. Some boards have additional requirements.
