Downtown Streets Project Brochure
Our city is experiencing a new energy downtown with increased business and residential development. The City of Tulsa is working quickly to complete improvements to sidewalks, landscaping and pavement to be ready for the opening of the BOK Center and reopening of the convention center.
Major infrastructure improvements downtown are being paid for by the 2001 and 2006 Third Penny Sales Tax extensions, the 2005 Bond Issue and Vision 2025.
Despite the construction, access will be maintained to all businesses. If necessary, our staff will work with business owners to create and post signs to appropriate entrances. We will do all we can to minimize inconveniences during construction. If you have concerns, please call Construction Manager Brad Crutcher at 527-0003 or Field Engineering Manager Albert Martinez at 261-9255.
More than 30 years have passed since Tulsa’s previous reconstruction of many downtown streets - just before the Williams Center Bank of Oklahoma Tower opened in November 1976. In 2008, another historic makeover of approximately 50 blocks in Tulsa’s downtown core is taking place before the BOK Center opens in September.
We appreciate your patience during this process. Throughout the construction, Tulsans can do their part by being loyal customers of downtown businesses. By summertime, we will see definite improvements to the streets and sidewalks downtown.
