Contracting with the City of Tulsa

SELLING TO THE CITY

It is the policy for the City of Tulsa to encourage the use of minority, woman and/or service disabled veteran owned businesses in contracting opportunities.  All City contracting opportunities $25,000 and above are advertised in the Tulsa Daily Commerce and Legal News.  These contracts may also be located in the Bid News, Dodge Reports and some online advertisements.  All general contractors must show good faith effort and should be aware of some of the definitions. Human Rights Department evaluates the effectiveness of demonstrated good faith efforts.

Purchasing

Contracting opportunities below $25,000 are not typically advertised.  To obtain an opportunity for this type of contract it is necessary for the business to register as a vendor with the City of Tulsa Purchasing department.

Notification of purchasing contract opportunities will be sent to the businesses' based on the commodity code(s) selected during the registration process.  A business may receive contracting opportunities by email, fax or U.S. mail.

Buyers are listed online by the commodities that they purchase.  Under this process it is important that the business build a working relationship with the purchasing buyer.

Construction

Contracting departments such as Public Works, Tulsa Airport Authority, and Urban Development are responsible for most building renovations, street repairs, concrete finishing, and similar services.
