Working In Neighborhoods

Letter from the Mayor

Dear Fellow Tulsan,

Mayor Kathy Taylor

A city's government exists to serve its citizens, all of whom should have direct access to the resources available. This Neighborhood Resource Guide is designed to answer questions most frequently asked at community meetings and through calls to the Mayor's Action Center and Office for Neighborhoods.

Living in this city leads to a great admiration of its rich heritage and progressive thinking. We want Tulsa to succeed, but success doesn't just happen. It takes every neighborhood of Tulsa doing its part to turn our visions into reality. Knowledge and enthusiasm are vitally important in accomplishing great things. The Neighborhood Resource Guide is a tool for your neighborhood to use to reap the benefits of living in the city of Tulsa. I hope you will use the services of the Mayor's Office for Neighborhoods and its director, Monica Hamilton, in developing new associations, strengthening existing neighborhood groups, identifying needs and resolving issues.

In addition to using this guide, you will want to visit several websites developed over the last few years by City and regional organizations. These websites give comprehensive overviews of the scope of services offered to neighborhoods. Many meeting agendas also are available on these sites, listed below for reference:

City of Tulsa: www.cityoftulsa.org
Tulsa City Council: www.tulsacouncil.org
INCOG/Planning and Land Use: www.incog.org
City Auditor, Phil Wood: www.cityauditorphilwood.com

If you do not find the answer to your questions through any of these resources, you may call the Mayor's Action Center at 596-2100 for personal assistance Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding holidays). Questions or comments received through the Mayor's Action Center receive top priority by City personnel.

Sincerely,

Mayor Kathy Taylor

Mayor of Tulsa
