The City of Tulsa has partnered with H&R Block in offering free tax preparation assistance to Tulsa City employees and their families deployed in the War on Terror.
Those who are eligible are:
Any Tulsa City employee who is in the reserves or National Guard and will be deployed on active duty status for more than 180 days in the War on Terror.
Any dependant of a Tulsa City employee who’s spouse is deployed in the War on Terror.
If any one of the requirements are made then H&R Block will provide, without charge to the City employee or the City of Tulsa, one set of federal, one set of state and one set of local tax returns prior to deployment, during deployment (for the dependant), or post deployment. There is no limit to the number of tax assessments per number of deployments. For example, if a Tulsa City employee is deployed on three separate occasions then that City employee or dependant is eligible for three separate tax preparations.
To receive the particular range of services representatives from H&R Block will advise on what materials and documents the City employee or dependant will need to gather.
All H&R Block locations in the City of Tulsa are participating.
City of Tulsa employees who have been called to active duty in support of combat operations after September 11, 2001, have the option of continuing their City of Tulsa benefits while serving.
Employees being deployed may now continue their dependant coverage for the period of service by timely payment of the current dependant premium rate instead of 102% of the full premium. Previously, employees could only continue the dependant coverage for a twelve month period, the coverage will now continue for the full period of deployment as long as there is timely payment of the premium. Please call your department's personnel office as shown below.
