Mayor Kathy Taylor last week welcomed the Arabian Horse Association (AHA) to Tulsa for it’s annual conference which precedes the U.S. National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show.
That event, which is coming to Expo Square in October 2008, is expected to bring 2,500 horses and 15,000 visitors and generate $40 million for the local economy.
The AHA committed to holding its prestiguous show in Tulsa for three consecuve years, through, 2010, with a two-year extension option through 2012. In recent years the show has switched annually between Louisville, KY and Albuquerque, NM.
AHA officials said they feel that Tulsa's central location and the AHA's three-year commitment will bring more consistency and more revenue to the show.
Last week's national convention at the Renaissance Hotel brought about 700 visitors to Tulsa.
