Gasoline Prices Rising – Cut Your Gas Cost and Prevent Ozone at the Same Time!

Having clean, healthy air is only one good reason to follow the Ozone reducing tips we provided last week. The second reason is: it saves gasoline!

As the price of gasoline climbs higher and higher this summer you can benefit from changing a few behaviors that also reduce ozone.

  • Combine your daily car trips, plan your route to get everything done in only one outing
  • Don’t let your car run while sitting idle, especially when the air conditioner is on
  • Bring your lunch to work instead of driving to get lunch in the heat of the day
  • Carpool
  • Ride your bike or walk
  • Ride the bus! This summer, MTTA is offering 50 cent bus rides on Friday, thanks to a donation from Sunoco

And remember another previous tip we’ve provided that saves fuel:

  • Lower your speed! Each mile you drive over 60 mph is like adding 10 cents per gallon to the gas you buy. (U.S. Department of Energy)
