It’s Go Healthy Month! This month-long effort to promote healthier lifestyles for all children is presented by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a joint initiative of the William J. Clinton Foundation and a Mayor’s Fitness Challenge partner, the American Heart Association.
Go Healthy Month is designed to educate and engage kids across the nation to motivate themselves, their peers, family members, school communities and others to increase their healthy eating and physical activity and prevent childhood obesity.
“Go Healthy Month is a great opportunity for kids and parents to commit to making changes in their lives that include healthier eating and increased physical activity,” said Ginny Ehrlich, executive director of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. “Throughout the month, communities across the country will be celebrating the importance of being healthy with lots of activities, events and forums. We hope to engage communities in a dialogue about their health and provide them with real solutions that result in real change.”
A healthier lifestyle can start with something as simple as going outside. With the weather cooling off, it’s the perfect time to use Tulsa’s many beautiful parks, trails, and recreation centers.
