PACE: Partners for a clean environment
Storm Drain Marking

This program started in 1994 in Tulsa and has expanded to Glenpool, Owasso, and Sand Springs. Originally, teams of volunteers stenciled the message "Dump No Waste – Drains to River" on storm drains. Now curb markers with the message "No Dumping – Keep Our Water Clean" are glued next to the storm drains. The curb markers last longer than the painted stencils. The "No Dumping" message reminds us to protect our local streams and rivers from non-point source pollutants. In addition to marking the curbs, volunteers distribute literature in the neighborhood that explains the storm drain marking program and, thus, improves water quality awareness.
