Drop-off Depots
The City of Tulsa funds five drop-off centers where residential recyclables can be dropped off free, 24 hours a day. In addition to newspaper, plastic and glass bottles and aluminum, the M.e.t. depots accept magazines, junk mail, phonebooks, eyeglasses, batteries, motor oil and antifreeze. The depots are operated by the Metropolitan Environmental Trust. For more information call 584-0584, or visit www.metrecycle.com.

What you can recycle and how to prepare items for recycling:
Aluminum cans – You can recycle all aluminum beverage cans. Rinse and flatten.
Plastic bottles – You can recycle plastic bottles that have a neck and the number 1 or 2 in the triangle on the bottom. Remove caps and lids, rinse and flatten.
Glass bottles – You can recycle clear, green and brown glass jars and bottles. Remove lids, rinse, and separate by color, when possible.
Newspaper – You can recycle the entire newspaper, including glossy ads. Leave loose and unbundled and keep clean and dry.
Magazines – Includes small, staple-bound catalogs, but not thick catalogs and phone books. (Phone books can be recycled annually on special collection dates or at the 35th and Sheridan location which accepts phone books year-round.)
Office paper – Recycle white and colored file folders, copy paper, computer paper and envelopes. Staples or paper clips are acceptable. NOT acceptable are paper contaminated with paint, oil or food waste.
Household and auto batteries
Motor oil & Antifreeze – Keep separate; up to 5 gallons each per visit. No commercial vendors.
Steel cans – Steel cans are not recycled at Tulsa area M.e.t. depots.
