
Under general direction manages the data center activities and technical staff in the Information Technology Operations and Support Department, planning, administering and coordinating the installation of hardware equipment, software applications and related maintenance agreements and performs other related assigned duties.

Essential Job Functions:
Manages data center activities, including directing and overseeing staff supervision and scheduling to ensure shift coverage, assigned tasks completed accurately and on schedule, maintain a state-of-the-art tier IV operation and meet departmental goals and objectives;
Designs and implements data center strategy, policies and procedures;
Develops operational procedures for proper handling of data center services, including a shared service data center;
Works in conjunction with technical departments to rectify data errors, assessing needs and developing solutions to improve and make processes more efficient;
Creates, modifies and maintains documentation for data center grids, wiring standards, rack configuration, power grid, fire suppression/prevention, inventory/change control, engineering standards and all related security systems;
Coordinates the program development and maintenance schedules to critical environmental equipment, including hardware upgrades, maintenance and all environmental changes with the appropriate vendor or department;
Plans installation of hardware equipment and administers maintenance agreements to maximize integration, compatibility and continuing systems operations and to minimize disruptions;
Oversees the development of user/procedural manuals and forms to ensure clear and concise instructional information completed in a timely manner;
Facilitates information technology training to staff and end users;
Develops, implements and assesses the adequacy of data center controls to ensure appropriate current best practices;
Ensures proper backup and recovery procedures in place for systems and applications;
Creates and maintains a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation;
Keeps abreast of current trends and developments in the field by attending professional development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and reading appropriate professional technical literature;
Provides support to external customers regarding shared services housed in the data center;
Develops and maintains business continuity and disaster recovery plans;
Develops, manages, maintains and ensures adherence to service and operational level agreements, periodically preparing reports to evaluate contracts in meeting/exceeding obligations;
Serves as liaison to various potential clients, organizations, governmental entities and multi-agency committees;
Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.

Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and six (6) years experience supervising personnel installing hard/software and managing operations, power and environments in a tier IV data center to include developing service/operational level agreements, consolidating/relocating data center operations and recovering from a disaster to an offsite recovery center; or an equivalent combination of training and experience per Personnel Policies and Procedures Section 128. Candidates must have no felony arrests or convictions, nor a history of multiple misdemeanor arrests/convictions. In conformance with federal rules and legal mandates, candidates must undergo a background investigation, including fingerprints. Should the candidate be selected and accept conditional employment, failure to pass the background investigation will result in termination.
Comprehensive knowledge of network/computer operating systems; comprehensive knowledge of data communications networking concepts, methods and techniques, including computer interfacing; considerable knowledge and experience in state-of-the-art data processing and communications equipment and their application. Ability to perform analysis of data communications systems from technical feasibility aspects; ability to work independently and to recognize, analyze and solve complex problems; ability to architecturally design data center using best practices to meet the department’s needs and objectives; ability to assess problems in an emergency/disaster situation, remain calm and make a quick decision to successfully address/resolve the crisis; ability to mentor, motivate and direct staff to meet department goals and objectives; ability to exercise discretion and professionalism in accessing confidential information; ability to facilitate information technology training to staff and end users; ability to display a high level of effort and commitment in performing work; ability to operate effectively within the organizational structure, demonstrating trustworthiness and responsible behavior; and the ability to understand and influence the behavior of others within the organization, customers or the public in order to achieve job objectives and cause action or understanding. Applicant must demonstrate Microsoft Visio expert skills to adequately design/configure data center grids and components residing in the data center, strong analytical and excellent oral/written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include arm and hand dexterity enough to use a keyboard and telephone; occasional lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds; occasional pushing and pulling up to 150 pounds; and be subject to walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling, crawling, handling, climbing, and twisting; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.

Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of an Oklahoma Class “D” Operator’s license.
Working Environment:
