Hauled Debris Nears 1.5 million Cubic Yards

Debris-removal crews working for Storm Reconstruction Services (SRS) hauled 51,233 cubic yards of debris Sunday, pushing the total since work began in mid January to 1.459,533 cubic yards.

That is enough to cover 684 football fields three feet deep.

Eighty-nine hauling trucks and 20 tree-trimming trucks were employed by the contractor Sunday.

So far, some 31,512 load tickets have been processed. The City is paying $3.79 per cubic yard for debris disposal. The total so far is $5,531,630. That does not include costs of monitoring the work or grinding the debris into mulch, but is only the cost of removing the debris.

Seven additional hauling trucks were added to Monday’s workforce. Today some 96 hauling trucks are being used, along with 17 tree-trimming trucks. One hundred and twenty-nine monitors are observing and verifying the work performed.

Tulsa residents and local yard-care contractors can still haul debris to the City’s permanent greenwaste site at 10401 E. 56th St. North. That site has returned to normal operating hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week.
