A Message from Mayor Kathy Taylor

Mayor Kathy Taylor

Tulsa is a city on the move. My personal thanks to each person who has become engaged in making life better in Tulsa.

One way we can come together and help our community is by getting involved in "20,000 by 2010," a new project to re-green the City of Tulsa. Last December's devastating ice storm left at least 10,000 critically damaged trees, with many of them in public parks.

Our plan to re-green Tulsa includes planting in public and private areas as well as neighborhood education on the value and care of trees. During the next three years we have set a goal to raise $4 million in private donations for our trees.

One of the great characteristics of Tulsa is how citizens come together and step forward to partner with government. Thanks to the generous hearts of many Tulsans, we have already received commitments totaling $1.65 million that will help us in our efforts to restore green to our landscape. Each ReGreen Tulsa tree costs around $300. I challenge community groups, schools and churches to volunteer your time and contribution for re-greening Tulsa.

For more information on ReGreen Tulsa and how you can volunteer your time, make donations, register new trees you plant on private property, or for a schedule of Tree seminars, visit ReGreen Tulsa online.

Let's do our part in making life better in our community as we work to restore our urban tree canopy and renew Tulsa's green heritage.
