Residential Trash Collection Guideline
Refuse that will be collected:
- Cans, bags, boxes and bundles, up to 50 pounds per item.
- Brush tied in 4-feet-by-2-feet bundles, and yard waste that is
in suitable cans or boxed or bagged in sturdy containers.
- Excreta, human or animal, soiled diapers, cat litter, fish
cleanings and wet garbage ONLY if they are placed in sealed plastic
bags.
- Loose materials such as sawdust or cold ashes ONLY if they are
securely bagged.
Refuse that will
NOT be collected:
- Toxic wastes or liquids, including motor oil.
You should.
- Dispose of hypodermic needles and any other sharp medical
wastes by placing the items in a rigid or semi-rigid sealed
container (such as a pickle jar or pop bottle before discarding
into your trash container.
- Secure pets on collection day if they present a threat to the
refuse collector.
- Leave gates unlocked and access unobstructed for backyard
collection.
- Make refuse and recyclables available & accessible for
collection by 6 a.m. on collection day.
- Put refuse containers on the curb no more than 12 hours before
collection and remove them within 12 hours after collection.
