Human Rights Department Training/Events
The Human Rights Department is the City of Tulsa department,
created by Title 5 of the City of Tulsa Revised Ordinances that
receives and investigates complaints of discrimination. The
department provides training regarding discrimination law and
issues. In this regard, the Human Right Staff can provide
training in the following areas;
- Employment: Hiring, Treatment, Terms and
working Conitions, Discipline; Benefits, Termination
- Public Accommodation: Treatmen, Advertisement;
Terms and Conditions, Availability
- Housing: Advertisement, Sales terms &
conditions, rental terms & conditions, lending terms and
conditions
All issues are in relationship to a difference of treatment in
the areas of: Age;Race;Color;Sex:National Orgin; Religion;
Disability; and Familal Status

Human Rights Student Internship Opportunties
Through the Human Rights internship program you can learn about
Human Rights and other related issues along with gaining practical
work experience.
The goal of the Internship Program is to provide internship
opportunities that will equip students with practical, real-world
work experiences that will help them transition into a successful
career in the public or private sector. Students serve as unpaid
interns while assisting on a variety of projects. Most often, they
do a combination of research, writing and general office work.
Requirements: Applicant must be enrolled in a college or
university. All positions are temporary and can last from a minimum
of one month to up to 12 months

John D. Veal, Jr., Business Development Specialist with Oklahoma
District Office Small Business Administration (SBA) and Susan
McClune, Transportation Manager with Oklahoma Department of
Transportation (ODOT) have agreed to share their interpretation of
the Small Business Act and some of the Code of Federal Regulations
that the BRIDGE certification program is in pursuant to.

Thursday, 3:00 p.m. Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges
--Dr. Michael Smith, HRD Compliance Investigations - Discussion on
Responsibilities of State & Local government... laws as it
relates to Title II and persons with disabilities. What are
public accommodations and requirements under the law? There
will be a tour of the Center.
