Checklist To Determine When a Person Needs an
Ombudsman's Help
A person may need the services of an Ombudsman prior to
placing a loved one in a facility to:
*Discuss the level of care that would benefit the resident.
*Check on the Ombudsman's experiences with the facility.
*Learn which facilities have specific services or amenities the
resident will require.
*Request the "Directory of Licensed Facilities in Creek, Osage
and Tulsa Counties."
*Discuss sources of payment including Medicare/Medicaid
guideline.
After placing a person in a facility, an Ombudsman may be
needed to:
*Request information regarding any aspect of resident life.
*File a complaint or to discuss a concern.
*Discuss state and federal laws and regulations.
*Protest notice of an involuntary transfer or discharge.
*Discuss Advance Directives (Living Wills) and Do Not
Resuscitate forms.
