Extended Military Benefits Package
City of Tulsa employees who have been called to active duty in
support of combat operations after September 11, 2001, have the
option of continuing their City of Tulsa benefits while
serving.
Employees being deployed may now continue their dependant
coverage for the period of service by timely payment of the current
dependant premium rate instead of 102% of the full premium.
Previously, employees could only continue the dependant coverage
for a twelve month period, the coverage will now continue for the
full period of deployment as long as there is timely payment of the
premium. Please call your department's personnel office as shown
below.

Deploying and Returning
City Employees called to duty
This following is provided as a guide to assist your transition
from employment to active duty and your return to work by providing
an overview of benefits available.
Please use the following list as a source of contact information
for individuals you need to speak with upon being called to active
duty or returning to work.
Sworn Police Employees
Police Department Payroll Contact: Cheri O'Neal
(918) 596-9365. Sworn Police employees need to contact the Police
Department's Payroll Offices for instructions on internal
department requirements within 30 days of leaving and returning to
work.
City of Tulsa Payroll Manager: (918)

Insurance for Sworn Police: Rooney Insurance
(918) 878-3373 or 8(918) 78-3350. Sworn Police employees need to
contact their offices within 30 days of leaving and returning to
work. Dependents can be invoiced monthly if health coverage
continuation is desired.
Oklahoma Police Pension & Retirement
System: 800-347-6552 Sworn Police have 3 times the
amount of time he/she was on military leave to "buy back" his/her
military time. The clock starts the day he/she returns from
military leave. There are 5 forms that need to be completed and
they are available on the website www.opprs.ok.gov
Sworn Fire
Employees
Insurance for Sworn
Fire: The Holmes Organization (918) 359-6000. Sworn Fire
employees need to contact their offices within 30 days of leaving
and returning to work.
City of Tulsa Payroll Manager: (918)

Fire Department Payroll Contact: Betty Loney
(918) 596-1787 Sworn fire personnel must provide a copy of their
orders activating and de-activating their service to the Fire
Department Payroll Contact and their direct Chief. The Fire
Department Payroll Contact notifies the pension system of leave
commencement and return to work.

Non-Sworn City
Employees
City Retirement Services for Non-Sworn
Employees: (918) 596-7322. Pick up or request a Municipal
Employees' Retirement Plan (MERP) Summary Plan Description (SPD)
for details on credited service while on military leave in Chapter
5. This is also available on the City's DocLibrary.
