This newsletter is a new, interactive tool to bring you news from the City of Tulsa- and hopefully hear back from you as well. There are great things happening everyday- and we want to share some of those things with this newsletter and our city website!
We have a very strong and vibrant city. We are growing jobs and we are seeing many new educational opportunities for our children. Tulsa is seeing a new kind of energy emerge and it is largely due to the many people who have stepped forward to make a difference in this community. People from the business community and the faith community are working with the city to address many issues—and we are making progress!
Kathy Taylor
Mayor
Complete Our Streets
The Complete Our Streets panel established by Mayor Kathy Taylor and Councilor Bill Martinson has met for the past couple of months to study how to improve Tulsa's streets. Led by civic leaders Sharon King Davis and Dewey Bartlett Jr., the panel has formed three committees to focus on specific topics: contracting, smart urban design and financing. This review process has included an October 29 Complete Our Streets Town Hall meeting attended by 150 Tulsa residents, 28 of whom addressed the panel with their comments and concerns.
The Complete Our Streets panel will present recommendations to the Mayor and City Council by December 4.
"It is time we took a comprehensive approach that will get our streets to a safe and optimal level - and most importantly, include the funding to maintain that level," said Mayor Kathy Taylor.
"We must implement a program that will ensure adequate funding, and provide a long-term commitment for this vital component of our infrastructure image and quality of life," said City Councilor Bill Martinson.

What Do You Do
With
All Those Leaves?
Wondering what to do with all those leaves that have fallen from your yard? Don’t worry about bagging them. These leaves are a great source of fertilizer for your flower beds and gardens.
The leaves of one large shade tree can be worth as much as $50 of plant food and humus! Pound for pound, the leaves of most trees contain twice as many minerals as manure – minerals like calcium, magnesium, nitrogen and phosphorus, plus other trace elements. (Source: http://www.compostguide.com.)
