Welcome!
Tulsan's have known for a long time that Tulsa is a great place to call home.
We prove it time and time again. Tulsa is a laboratory for innovation and
excellence. It is a place where challenges are accepted and solutions are
valued. From Tulsa's beautiful rolling hills, world class golf course and
parks to its art deco downtown skyline, there is much to appreciate.
This city is known for its innovation, risk-taking and entreprenuerial
spirit, which is evident in our history as the world's oil capital. Today,
Tulsa still strives for the best and the innovative, from the one of a kind
BOK Center to the new energy saving City Hall at One Technology Center. We
are making strides in promoting diversity and opportunity through
partnerships, and proving our leadership can provide great education,
promote public safety and propel Tulsa's economic development.
Our accomplishments are receiving national recognition. Recently, Forbes.com
recognized Tulsa as one of the "10 Best Cities for Jobs" due to its income
growth, cost of living, job growth, and low unemployment. With Tulsa's new
energy, we can aim to be even higher on the list next year.
These accomplishments have led to Tulsa's selection as one of four cities to
host a new pilot program for design excellence through the Mayors' Institute
on City Design (MICD). The Institute recognizes that Tulsa is a unique
laboratory for national urban planning and transportation experts. The word
is getting out, and now people across the country and around the world are
starting to realize what we have known for a long time: Life is better in
Tulsa.
I am proud to be your Mayor, and I would encourage you to take an
extra measure of pride in Tulsa, because together we are making Tulsa great!
Sincerely,
Mayor Kathy Taylor
