Jason and the Argonauts, Coming Nov. 6

Two actors, countless characters, and one fleece all add up to 65 minutes of fun!

From Glasgow, Scotland comes Visible Fiction's epic tale, Jason and the Argonauts along with action figures and a giant newspaper boat! This exciting event for ages 9 and beyond takes place at the John H. Williams Theatre in the Performing Arts Center, Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m.

Fairgrounds Pollution Collection Event Nov. 7-8

You may not realize it, but your home is likely filled with all sorts of dangerous and hazardous pollutants. Many everyday products such as paint and lawn chemicals can be dangerous if used or stored improperly, and cause serious environmental damage if tossed in the trash or poured down the drain.

You can dispose of your household chemicals and toxic hazards in a safe manner at the upcoming Fairgrounds Pollutant Collection Event. This two-day event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Tulsa Fairgrounds (Expo Square), Gate 7. The event is co-hosted by the City of Tulsa and the Metropolitan Environmental Trust (M.e.t.).

Time Changes And So Should Your Batteries

Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour for the end of Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 a.m.

When you change your clocks' settings to the Standard Time, the Tulsa Fire Department recommends that you also take this opportunity to inspect and change the batteries in your smoke detector.

Wondering when the time will change next year? The Standard Time will remain in place until March 14, 2010 as Daylight Saving Time resumes the second Sunday in March.

Mayor Kathy Taylor

Greetings,

The excitement is building for the 32nd annual Tulsa Run in beautiful downtown Tulsa. Please join me for this fun and fit event, Saturday, October 31 where we will also find out how far we've come in a year with our Tulsa Million Miles efforts.

Tulsans have done an incredible job this past year with being fit and active - your collective efforts of walking, running, biking, and swimming are helping us become a healthier community.

The Tulsa Run is a great supporter of our Tulsa Million Miles initiative and is allowing us to celebrate our achievements in a big way this coming Saturday! TPS kids, City of Tulsa employees, city and county officials, and more will join me for the 2k Fun Run as the Tulsa Million Miles team. A jumbo tron will flash the total number of miles from our year-long efforts, as well as adding in the miles from the Tulsa Run races. It will be an exciting morning!

We will also be collecting food at the Tulsa Run for the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Bring your donations to the finish line area. The first 1,000 people to bring food will receive a Quik Trip gift certificate for a free drink!

I hope to see you this weekend at the Tulsa Run and Tulsa Million Miles celebration - together, we can shape up Tulsa one mile at a time!
