Mayor Dewey Bartlett

Greetings,
This week, specifically Dec. 7, marks my first year in office serving as your Mayor. We have achieved a great deal in a short amount of time, and have launched projects that will ensure Tulsa is on solid footing for the future. We continue to review KPMG recommendations for efficiencies in our local government operations, we continue to conservatively approach spending as we put together our budget for FY 2011-12, and work with the Council to fund the essential services of government, and return our focus to core operations.

Sadly, Dec. 7th also marks the anniversary of one of the worst days in U.S. military history - the day Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Thousands of Americans lost their lives on that fateful day.

On Dec. 7, I joined other community leaders and service members to open the newest Veterans Resource Center at Eastland Mall. As Mayor, I am always privileged and honored to take part in ceremonies and events that demonstrate the gratitude we have for our military and reserves. Without our service members, we would not enjoy the freedoms we know today, nor have the ability to protect our borders. I am very proud of the efforts being made in Tulsa to assist our veterans and their families, and my administration continues to work with a Veterans Advisory Council to address their needs.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor of Tulsa
