Looking For Citizens To Serve

The City of Tulsa has openings on several authorities, boards and commissions that are in need of citizens to volunteer their services to the community. Mayor Dewey Bartlett and the City Council rely on these volunteer citizen groups for thoughtful advice to create policies and develop programs.

Tulsa Area Agency on Aging Needs You

The Tulsa Area Agency on Aging is looking for ombudsman volunteers to be advocates for older Tulsans living in nursing homes, assisted living centers and residential facilities.

If you are responsible and concerned with older people, are able to work with them in solving problems to resolution, and have two free hours weekly, consider becoming an ombudsman volunteer.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett

The City of Tulsa will undergo a strategic review of operations, processes and organizational structures beginning this month with KPMG, a national management consulting firm. KPMG has been hired at no cost to taxpayers. The contract will be funded by the George Kaiser Family Foundation and other private donors through the Tulsa Community Foundation. We expect to have a comprehensive report from KPMG with recommendations and implementation strategies by early summer. It is our goal to identify cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities that can be implemented in our fiscal year 2011 budget. We also will receive valuable tools from this process that can be applied year after year.

It is my goal to make sure the City of Tulsa runs as efficiently as possible. The national recession has clearly shown us that we must change the way we do business and ensure the City lives within its means. I encourage Tulsa residents to take part in the community survey KPMG will use to rank our priorities and rate how we are doing.  Results of the comprehensive KPMG study and the resulting action steps will be shared in open fourms with councilors, media and citizens. Comments and suggestions can be made through the Mayor's Action Center at mac@cityoftulsa.org

Best Regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor
