It's 2010, and time for the U.S. Census.

In March, census questionnaires will be mailed out to households. Should you complete your household's questionnaire? Is it important to you and your family? The answer quite simply, is YES!

All it takes is just 10 minutes of your time to answer 10 questions that will influence the future.

Free Tax Preparation Assistance

The Tulsa Community Action Project (CAP) is offering free tax preparation assistance for Tulsa families with annual incomes of $50,000 or less, and singles with incomes of $40,000 or less.

The CAP tax preparation services are free of charge to eliminate the additional expense of commercial tax preparation that can burden a low-income family. This service also helps clients avoid the high-interest loans that some commercial tax preparers charge for "refund anticipation loans."

For more information about tax preparation assistance, call the Tulsa Community Action Project at 382-3333.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett

With much emphasis and attention focused on our City of Tulsa budget for the remainder of the fiscal year, we have created a budget segment on the Mayor's Report, a television show which airs on TGOV, Tulsa local government access channel 24, and streams online.

Our February show features discussions with Interim Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan and Tulsa Fire Chief Allen LaCroix on public safety issues that impact the citizens of Tulsa. You can watch the Mayor's Report daily at noon with the exception of Tuesdays, and again at 5 or 9 p.m.

I hope you will take time to watch this informative show about our City budget and public safety. Additional information on our budget is available online. Questions and comments about the Mayor's Report or about our online budget information may be reported online.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor of Tulsa
