Mayor Dewey Bartlett

Last week I addressed the media at a news conference to go over proposed revenue enhancements to supplement the FY10-11 budget and help us weather the City's serious financial challenges.

The FY 2011 budget I presented to the City Council continues our conservative spending approach and financial projections, continuing the reductions that we have had to make since last October.

This is the time to look for new revenue opportunities. So, we did something a bit different in the budget presentation - we offered several ways to create new revenue so we can restore general fund services.

The City Council has been provided with a list of revenue enhancements to be considered and implemented. They could use these revenue initiatives to restore one or all of the services or reductions we've recommended. Some of these revenue plans were built upon ideas initiated by the council in the past few months.

You can review the complete presentation on the proposed revenue enhancements to the City Council online.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor
