City Hall and other city offices will be closed Friday, July 2,
for a furlough day - and then on Monday, July 5, for the
Independence Day holiday. Public safety and mission critical
operations, however, will operate as normal. Residents who need
assistance with a water or sewer problem may call the City's
24-hour emergency number, 596-9488.

Have a Safe Fourth At ONEOK Freedomfest '10
The Fourth of July is near and fireworks are being sold
throughout the metropolitan area.
While some nearby cities now allow the use of fireworks with
appropriate permits, the City of Tulsa's ordinances prohibit the
use of fireworks within its corporate boundaries.
The City's fire code states that "It shall be unlawful and a
misdemeanor offense for any person to possess, manufacture, store,
sell, handle or use any fireworks within the corporate limits of
the City of Tulsa without first having procured an operational
permit from the fire code official as required."

Progress in Motion at the LIFT Program
Tulsa Transit recently upgraded its LIFT Program scheduling
software system. Not only will the new system continue to allow the
transit agency to provide all trips requested by persons with
disabilities who are unable to ride fixed-route buses, but it will
also save taxpayer dollars.

2010 Oklahoma Senior Games Registering Now
Men and women age 50 and older can now sign up for the 2010
Oklahoma Senior Games (OSG) to be held in Tulsa October 7 - 13.
The State Games, hosted by City of Tulsa Parks and presented by
Gold Medallion Senior Housing & Health Care, will feature 21
sports including basketball, tennis, bowling, track and field,
croquet, a 10k run, pickleball, badminton, cycling, table tennis,
swimming, shuffleboard, and more. Archery competition will be held
on Saturday, September 11, in Oklahoma City.

Mayor Asks Tulsa CEO's to Mentor
Mayor Dewey Bartlett and Victoria Bartlett were the featured
speakers this morning at the Mayor's Mentoring Breakfast and
challenged Tulsa CEO's and business leaders to spend an hour a week
being a child's friend. The Tulsa Metro Chamber, one of the
Mentoring to the Max partners hosted the event.
Mayor Bartlett said, "Mentoring is a very real opportunity in
the city of Tulsa. Children crave friendship and love, which they
oftentimes don't get at home. Giving a commitment of time to a
child is a great gift - mentoring works."
