City of Tulsa is Looking for Citizens to Serve

Do your part in helping us move Tulsa forward by volunteering to serve as a member of an Authority, Board or Commission. The City of Tulsa has dozens of citizen committees that cover a wide range of topics and appeal to a variety of interests. Both the City Council and Mayor Dewey Bartlett rely on these citizen groups to provide thoughtful advice regarding policy and program development.

Those wishing to serve must be a Tulsa resident. Some boards have additional requirements. Information about each of the Authorities, Boards or Commissions, as well as an application for completion which is needed to be considered for approval is located online.

Help Tulsa Earn a Grant for Freedom Fest

Vote for Tulsa to win a $10,000 grant for Freedom Fest, our communitywide 4th of July celebration.

From now until June 14, Liberty Mutual is hosting a contest allowing towns across America to compete for $10,000 Bring Back the 4th grants. Liberty Mutual is offering a total of 10 grants, divided between small, medium and large towns.
How can Tulsa earn a grant for our 4th of July celebration?

Summer Day Camps, Additional Openings

Thanks to the generosity of companies and individuals, Tulsa Parks will be expanding their Summer Day Camps.

Registration began in April with Day Camps in nearly every Community Center. The additional donations will allow more children to participate in the current camps.

Tulsa PAC Events in June

Click your heels together and imagine yourself in the cool cushiness of the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. Celebrity Attractions closes its regular season at the PAC June 15 - 20 with the musical The Wizard of Oz. This adaptation is true to Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg's classic score. An additional matinee has been added on Thursday, June 17 at 1 p.m.

Maxwell Water Playground Grand Opening

Get ready to enjoy summertime fun as a family. Tulsa Parks announces the grand opening of the Maxwell Park Water Playground. The event takes place at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 10 at Maxwell Park - 5251 East Newton Street.

With funding from the 2001 and 2006 Sales Tax and Vision 2025, the Maxwell Water Playground is one of many Tulsa Park projects being completed in 2010. Additional Water Playgrounds are being constructed at Chamberlain Park and Owen Park.

The Maxwell Water Playground Grand Opening will showcase the recent Maxwell improvements, as well as announce upcoming park renovation projects.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett

Summer is made more special this year for hundreds of children enjoying our expanded park programs and five pools opened as a result of donations. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and various corporate sponsors, our Break the Ice pool drive raised funds to open five Tulsa Parks' pools so that kids have a fun and safe place to go during the summer.

We haven't quite reached our goal of $300,000 and are still accepting donations to maintain and staff five Tulsa Parks' pools. Parents and kids will also be excited to know that the Maxwell Park Water Playground Grand Opening is set for 1 p.m., Thursday, June 10 at Maxwell Park - 5251 East Newton Street. The Maxwell Water Playground is one of many Tulsa Park projects being completed this year due to the 2001 and 2006 Sales Tax and Vision 2025.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor of Tulsa
