March Madness at the Tulsa PAC
The PAC has its own kind of annual March Madness, with many of
its major teams in the house and ready for action!
A Jewish immigrant makes a fast break from Czarist Russia to a
tiny Baptist town in Texas in American Theatre Company's The
Immigrant, running at the PAC through March 13. This true
story, featuring country-western, Texas swing and Eastern European
music, is about parents and children, newcomers and natives,
Christians and Jews, and the realization of The American Dream.
Discounts are available for students and seniors.
Speaking of small Texas towns, it's a mad, mad world in the
mythical hamlet of Tuna. When Tuna's inhabitants storm Sin City to
witness a renewal of vows, chaos and comic insanity ensues.
Celebrity Attractions presents MVPs Joe Sears and Jaston Williams,
the originators of the "Tuna" comedy series, in Tuna
Does Vegas, March 8 - 11. The duo plays all the characters of
Tuna - men and women - for a night of hilarious, quick-change
fun.
The laughs keep coming March 12 - 13 when Tulsa Gridiron returns
to the PAC. "Dewey Dare? Or, Laughter is the Best Public
Option!" is the title of this annual show in which elected
officials, public figures, and pop-culture and sports icons are
roasted in a live musical theatre production. A dream team of local
talent, including Bob Hendrick, Heather Richetto-Rumley, Rebecca
Ungerman and Joe Kelley are on the roster.
The Borealis String Quartet is next in Chamber Music
Tulsa's lineup. "Light used to be faster than sound, until these
people came along," wrote one critic. On March 14, this young group
will perform music from the repertoires of Haydn, Dvorak and
Beethoven. With an assist from vibrant Canadian pianist
Jean-Francois Latour, this program is a slam-dunk for classical
music fans.
