Mayor Honors City Employees for Outstanding Service

Last week Mayor Dewey Bartlett recognized four City of Tulsa employees for their exemplary service to the city of Tulsa through its Tulsa Blue Employee Recognition Program.

"Our city is truly blessed to have amazing and talented employees who are not only committed to serving our citizens, but are great role models for their coworkers. Valerie Gerhart, Jane Dale, Gerald Bender and Frank Gallagher are all shining examples of public service. Their dedication in going above and beyond the call of duty to help their coworkers and improve life for the citizens of Tulsa is what it means to be a true public servant," Mayor Bartlett said.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett

Greetings,

On Monday this week I had the great pleasure of meeting with a group of local film-makers at Joe Momma's for our first Community Table, a series designed to provide a forum where I can meet one-on-one with Tulsans throughout the city at locally owned restaurants. We share a table, break bread and talk about issues facing Tulsa. In this case, Blake Ewing, the owner of Joe Momma's, chose the topic: the local film industry.

The group shared with me their concerns and touched on what city government can do to help make it easier to film in Tulsa, and we discussed how we might carve out a niche in Tulsa, concentrating on a segment of the film industry. Hopefully we will be able to form a Tulsa Film and Music Commission to enable the Mayor's Office to better address the great potential of this industry in Tulsa.

I was greatly impressed with this bright group of creative entrepreneurs and will rely on their advice in the future as we look to create new opportunities for Tulsa's film and music industry. For more on the Community Table, visit by Facebook page (link)

The local focus also folds into the re-energized Shop Tulsa campaign. Blake Ewing and a group of entrepreneurs and business people and merchants are now working hand-in-hand to take the Shop Tulsa campaign to a new level. Be sure to check out Shoptulsa.org and come to a Black Friday celebration to wrap up a day of post-Thanksgiving holiday shopping.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor of Tulsa
