Page Belcher, Mohawk Golf Courses Still Open

Two 18-hole golf courses remain open at Page Belcher and Mohawk Park. Tee-time reservations are being taken, while work continues on replacing the grass on the greens at two other courses.

In early August, renovations began on the greens on the Olde Page course at Page Belcher and the Woodbine course at Mohawk Park, replacing the existing bentgrass turf with a bermuda grass better suited to Oklahoma's summer climate.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett

Greetings,

Last weekend I had the opportunity to take a ride-a-long in one of our police helicopters to see how our police air support operates. As Tulsa police flight crews showed the various equipment on each helicopter, it is obvious the tremendous advantage our officers have when utilizing the helicopters for various pursuits and search and rescue operations.

Each helicopter has Forward Looking Infra-red (FLIR) cameras mounted at the front of the aircrafts, as well as extremely powerful spotlights that are capable of producing 30 million candlepower of light. The FLIR works by highlighting the temperature differences of various objects which allows the flight crews to see vehicles and people during pursuits at night. The spotlight is used during search and rescue operations and provides a broader area of light for our officers on the ground.

Not only do both helicopters provide a tremendous advantage for our officers, but air support crews are licensed pilots who are highly trained on the public safety equipment. I would like to thank the Tulsa Police Department for their dedication and look forward to continually seeing both helicopters in the air protecting our citizens every day.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor of Tulsa
