Lights On! Puts 53 New Street Lights in Neighborhoods

The City of Tulsa wants to shine bright lights on would-be criminals. Through a partnership with AEP-Public Service Company of Oklahoma, a new initiative will do just that. A new committee called "Lights On!" will install 53 new street lights in Tulsa neighborhoods. The "Lights On!" initiative was a direct result from the citywide citizen survey calling for more street lights to increase neighborhood safety throughout Tulsa.

Emergency responders put their lives on the line every day and face dangers beyond the injury scene. Drivers who fail to yield to emergency vehicles or follow too closely endanger the lives of responders and countless others.


Curbside Recycling Accepting More Paper Items, Containers

Tulsa's Curbside Recycling program is now more customer- friendly and is accepting more recyclable materials than ever before.

Curbside Recycling services are available to all City of Tulsa residential trash customers.


2011 Tulsey Award Nominations Kick Off

Nominations for the annual Tulsey Awards, which recognize local entrepreneurs in the community who have significantly impacted the local economy, are being accepted through October 5. Citizens may nominate deserving entrepreneurs for a Tulsey Award through the website in 10 categories: Civic, Emerging, Entertainment, Franchise, Green, Interactive, Legend, Serial, Young and Restaurateur.


Tulsa to Receive COPS Grant Funding

Mayor Dewey Bartlett and Police Chief Chuck Jordan announced yesterday that the City of Tulsa Police Department was notified of the award of the 2011 COPS Hiring Program grant from the Department of Justice.
