Celebrate Good Neighbor Month By Organizing a Neighborhood Clean-up

It's Good Neighbor Month in the city of Tulsa until Nov. 19. For the next couple of weeks the City's Working In Neighborhoods Department can help you with organizing a clean-up event with your neighborhood association, block group or other resident group to improve the appearance of our city.

911 Calls for Emergencies Only

Did you know nearly half of the 2,000 calls answered daily by the 911 Center aren't even for emergencies? People often call 911 because they are unfamiliar with the non-emergency phone numbers.


Reserve Your Spot in the Opening of the Nov. 9 Dream Exhibit

Tulsa families are invited to the Dream Exhibit Grand Opening on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 7 - 9 p.m. at the Tulsa Historical Society, 2445 S. Peoria Ave. There is no charge to attend. Families attending the reception will receive refreshments and a free sparkling Dreamer pin. Seating is limited, so please register to reserve your seat for the Dream Exhibit opening.

Time Changes And So Should Your Batteries

Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour for the end of Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 a.m.

When you change your clocks' settings to the Standard Time, the Tulsa Fire Department recommends that you also take this opportunity to inspect and change the batteries in your smoke detector.

Wondering when the time will change next year? The Standard Time will remain in place until March 11, 2012 as Daylight Saving Time resumes the second Sunday in March.

When the 2007 ice storm froze Tulsa, thousands of families were without power, warmth, and food.

One of those families was the Darling family who reached out for help at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. On Halloween Day I invited them to a press conference at City Hall to share their story. It is a story that hundreds of Tulsa families are familiar with today.
