City-County Collaborate on Shared Medical Resources
The City of Tulsa and Tulsa County are working together to share
medical resources that will benefit both City and County
employees.
The City of Tulsa has offered its two onsite Minor Illness
Clinics for complimentary care and treatment during the work day
for county employees and their family members who carry Community
Care health insurance benefits.
The clinics are staffed by St. John Urgent Care and are open
four days per week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The clinic location
at 2445 South Jackson is open on Mondays and Wednesdays and the
clinic on the 3rd floor of City Hall is open on Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
Tulsa County was working with health insurance provider
Community Care on a similar arrangement when the opportunity to
team with the City became apparent through discussions between city
and county staff.
Mayor Dewey Bartlett said, "This great health initiative between
the City and County shows how well we can work together to develop
good programs that emphasize the sharing of services to serve a
broader community. It is a huge win-win for both City and County
employees. Additionally, we accomplish the mission of governments
working together - something that 73 percent of citizens agreed
they want in our recent citizens' survey."
Tulsa County employees and their dependents can access the City
of Tulsa Minor Illness Clinics by showing a valid Tulsa County
employee identification. The operations of the City's Minor Illness
onsite clinics will be an important way to increase work
productivity, improve health, and save City and County employees on
their out-of-pocket healthcare costs. Through the Minor Illness
Clinics, both City and County workers may receive treatment and be
referred to their physician if their illness requires additional
care.
