Learn the Emergency Warning Siren System

Tulsa has an excellent emergency siren warning system consisting of more than 80 sirens throughout the city, each audible for up to a mile. We have learned that being prepared when disaster strikes can help save lives and property, prevent injury and decrease recovery costs.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett

Greetings,
In addition to the traditional branches of local government, another segment of our City government is led by 462 volunteers who work with my administration, the Tulsa Council and our City staff members to address issues, create or modify policies and connect with the citizens of Tulsa to bring information to City Hall. By being in Tulsa offices, schools, churches, industries and our residential neighborhoods every day, they are the City of Tulsa's first responders. They bring vital contributions and information to city government by actively participating in the work of our citizen-led authorities, boards and commissions.

Volunteers for City of Tulsa authorities, boards and commissions must be Tulsa residents and be at least 18 years of age. Interested volunteers will find a list of all authorities, boards and commissions, open seats and online application forms at www.tulsaboards.org or can call the Mayor's Action Center at (918) 596-2100. My aide, Monica Hamilton, reviews applications, submits her recommendations and forwards my nominees to the City Council. All appointments require City Council confirmation.

Above all, I want to thank all of the Tulsans who put hours of time into volunteer positions every week for the betterment of this city.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
