Shen Exhibit at PAC Through April

Artist Byron Shen will exhibit a collection of his paintings, "Emerging Light: Works by Byron Shen," in the PAC's Gallery from April 1-30.

Byron Shen was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He received a B. A. in English and Writing from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and an M.F.A. in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He currently is on the board of the Oklahoma Visual Artist Coalition and teaches art at the Holland Hall Upper School.

"My paintings are emotional landscapes, places to be traveled internally. In many of them it is where the horizon is far away and it is the journey that leaves its mark upon the viewer. The driving force behind my painting is in the process, which resides in an intuitive and spiritual nature. In order to interpret some of these sojourns, I have attempted to formulate a way of painting that translates these passages. Hopefully, the viewer will have a way of entering into a dialogue with the work and that is both seen but more importantly, felt."
