Victoria Bartlett: Principal for a Day at Cooper
On March 31, Victoria Bartlett took a break from her regular
schedule and spent the morning at Cooper Elementary as "Principal
for a Day." She took an active part in several Pre-K classes and
interacted with the students during Art and Music classes,
observing how pottery is made, singing songs and dancing.
Mrs. Bartlett serves as an ambassador for the City of Tulsa and
is dedicated to supporting Mayor Dewey Bartlett's social
initiatives that are making a difference in our community. She
spearheads the Mayor's Mentoring to the Max program and is
dedicated to making citizens aware of the great need for caring
adults involved in children's lives.
"As the Principal for a Day, Mrs. Bartlett actively participated
in the school's administration and interacted with both students
and teachers," said Cooper Elementary Principal Tammy
Britton. "I really appreciated how she expressed great concern
about our educational issues, and what skills are necessary for
students to succeed. The Principal for a Day program also
allowed us an opportunity to discuss the need for lunch buddies
that could offer mentorships to provide guidance and support with
academics, life skills, self-esteem and building positive
relationships."
Mrs. Bartlett is leading by example and has made a commitment to
mentor at a Tulsa Area Community School every month. So far, she's
mentored at the following elementary schools: Hawthorne, Eugene
Field, Marshall, Cooper, McClure, Kendall-Whittier, Bryant, and
Mark Twain. She will be spending time as a mentor at McKinley
through the end of the month.
