Message, Continued...
Greetings,
This week the City of Tulsa received bids for the continued
maintenance of the One Technology Center as part of our first
managed competition project. It's an exciting first step as we seek
to improve our city services and use our taxpayer dollars more
efficiently and effectively. Our City employees have received
training to put together a competitive bid, and their proposal will
be compared with the best bid presented by an external
provider.
Earlier today the Standards, Specifications and Awards committee
opened the external bids on the One Technology Center maintenance
at a public meeting.
An evaluation committee comprised of City employees, an
independent consultant and a business representative, will now
review and identify the best external bid proposal, which will then
be compared with the City of Tulsa's employee proposal. A
recommendation for the award of the City's first managed
competition project is expected to be made in early June. Managed
competition is a proven strategy which has been put to use in other
city governments to ensure the citizens receive the best value for
services. As we identify areas in which we can adapt to become more
effective and reduce our costs, our citizens realize the
benefits.
Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor of Tulsa
