Mayor Dewey Bartlett

Greetings,

As a result of the independent strategic business study conducted by KPMG last year that contained 1,100 recommendations for government efficiency, the City is currently reviewing and vetting 18 project recommendations. Of those 18, we have already identified six that potentially can save citizens $2.6 million annually. Using our project leaders in the Management Review Office that oversees implementation, we continue to further review the recommendations with employees, and provide training for bidding on managed competition projects.

As we vet each of these 18 projects, we expect to identify the specific cost savings by the end of the fiscal year. In addition to the business study, we have completed a citizen survey and are beginning more detailed, comprehensive assessments of our water and wastewater operations and will soon begin an energy audit.

We remain committed to improving the delivery of our core city services while ensuring the best use of taxpayer dollars.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor
